  4. Use the generated palette to explore other important colors from the same image.

Understanding HEX, RGB and HSL

HEX is a compact color code commonly used in websites and CSS, such as #1685F8. RGB describes the amount of red, green and blue in a color. HSL describes hue, saturation and lightness, which can be convenient when creating lighter, darker or less saturated variations. All three values describe a screen color in different ways.

What can an image palette be used for?

A palette helps maintain visual consistency across a website, thumbnail series, social campaign or brand. You can sample a logo color for a button, match text to a product photograph, or find complementary tones for a design. The generated palette is an estimate based on sampled pixels, so you can still click the image when you need an exact point. Add a selected brand color to an image with the Watermark Maker.
