<link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="180x180" href="/apple-touch-icon.png">

Tips for a clear favicon

Use a simple square logo with strong shapes and good contrast. Avoid tiny text because it becomes difficult to read at 16ร—16 or 32ร—32 pixels. Transparent PNG artwork usually works well for logos.

What makes a good favicon?

A favicon is displayed at a very small size in browser tabs, bookmarks and other interface areas, so simple artwork usually works better than detailed photography. Use a recognizable symbol, strong contrast and enough empty space around the main shape. Tiny text is difficult to read and should normally be avoided.

Why generate multiple favicon sizes?

Browsers and devices may request different icon dimensions depending on where the website icon is displayed. Creating several common sizes from the same source helps keep the branding consistent across tabs, shortcuts and saved links. Start with a clear square image so the resized versions retain the intended composition.

Preparing your source image

For best results, use a PNG, JPG or WebP image with the important artwork centered. A transparent PNG can be useful for logos that should not have a fixed background. Preview the smallest generated icon carefully, because details that look clear in the original can disappear after reduction.
